Abstract

The text under examination has been worked on several times by exegetes who have used diachronic and holistic methods. Therefore, the objective has become to apply the method of Hebrew rhetoric, which belongs to synchronic methods. This raises the hope that new discoveries will be made. In the study, in the bottom-up analysis, structures in the text were discovered. In the top-down analysis, by contrast, it was possible to discover the structure of the entire text as a parallel-centred structure with a mirror-image composition. Number systems of the number seven were also detected. The conclusion drawn from the conducted research is the image of a God who is Almighty. The foretold destruction of idolatry will be complete. Yet there is also the image of a Merciful God, as indicated in v. 8a.
