PEER REVIEW PROCESS

Review procedure for articles submitted for publication in the journal Urban Studies

The review procedure for all articles to be published in the journal Urban Studies follows the latest guidelines of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. Its basic guidelines are contained in the attached information brochure (prepared by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education).

Reviews of articles submitted for publication in the journal Urban Studies are carried out according to the following order:

  • two independent reviewers are appointed to evaluate each article (the list of cooperating reviewers is published once a year in an issue of the journal and on the journal's website), with neither the reviewers nor the authors knowing each other's identities (the so-called double-blind review).
  • the review is prepared on the basis of a form consisting of three parts. /review form is available on the website/. The first serves to evaluate the study from the point of view of various criteria by selecting the appropriate variant. In the second part, the reviewer explicitly indicates whether the article is suitable for publication and under what condition(s). The third part, on the other hand, is intended for specific comments and mandatory and optional changes that the author must make to the text before publication.
  • In a situation where the opinions of reviewers diverge on the possibility of publishing the article, the Editor refers the study to a third reviewer.
  • both the reviewer and the author of the article are obliged to carefully, reliably and timely perform their tasks
  • and timely performance of their tasks - the reviewer to prepare a review, and the author of the article to respond to the reviews presented to him.
