Studia Oecumenica is an annual journal published by the Publishing Office of the Faculty of Theology at the University of Opole. The journal has been issued since 2001. It publishes articles on ecumenical and interreligious topics, as well as studies on integration processes in their socio-religious dimension. In addition, each issue also contains reviews and discussions of recent ecumenical publications. Articles are published at the end of December of each publication year.
Aim and Scope of the Journal
"Studia Oecumenica" is a scholarly journal devoted to ecumenical theology, relations among Christian Churches and ecclesial communities, and the study of integration processes in their broader human, social, cultural, religious, political, and institutional dimensions. Its aim is to promote academic research on the theological foundations, historical development, contemporary practice, and future prospects of the ecumenical movement, while also providing a forum for reflection on different forms and dynamics of integration.
The journal publishes studies in systematic, dogmatic, historical, biblical, pastoral, and practical theology insofar as they contribute to a deeper understanding of Christian unity and confessional diversity. Its scope includes bilateral and multilateral theological dialogues, ecclesiology, the theology of communion, hermeneutics in ecumenical dialogue, the reception of ecumenical agreements, interchurch relations, and the contribution of Churches to social, cultural, and ethical debates.
The journal also welcomes research on integration processes considered in a broad sense, including their social, cultural, political, historical, religious, educational, and institutional aspects. This includes studies of cooperation, reconciliation, inclusion, identity formation, community-building, social cohesion, intercultural relations, and the overcoming of divisions in different areas of collective life.
"Studia Oecumenica" further welcomes interdisciplinary research drawing on history, philosophy, religious studies, sociology, political science, cultural studies, education, and canon law. The journal seeks to foster dialogue among scholars representing different disciplines, traditions, and research perspectives, and to provide a forum for studies conducted in diverse national, linguistic, religious, and cultural contexts.
