Abstract

Secularization, which often turns into secularism, thus moving away from the positive concept of secularity, puts the lives of modern Christians, especially in the West, to a difficult trial. Some specific postulates to counter these negative trends are proposed by the Catholic moral theology. Here the topic of secularization and secularism resounds mainly as a threat to the theological virtue of faith and the virtue of religiosity. In this paper, after clarifying the concepts of secularization and secularism and briefly discussing the current extent of these phenomena (especially in Poland), some specific theological and moral postulates made by Joachim Piegsa MSF (1930-2025) will be presented. Those postulated can be helpful today in overcoming or limiting secularization processes. These primarily include a return to the Decalogue, truth and the witness of Christian life.
