Aims & Scope

The journal Stylistyka („Stylistics”) is an international scientific periodical founded by Prof. Stanisław Gajda in 1992. Since 2018, the editor-in-chief is Marzena Makuchowska, PhD, professor at the University of Opole. "Stylistics" publishes texts devoted to the study of functional styles of ethnic languages. The journal is on the 2021 list of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (100 points).

The journal is published in print and online - on the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform in an open access basis. „Stylistyka” is indexed in the following databases: DOAJ, CEJSH, CEEOL, Index Copernicus, ERIH PLUS. Published texts are prepared in accordance with principles of ethical standards and best practices of publication and subjected to a double-blind peer review.

Publication Frequency 

The journal is published annually. Articles for publication may be submitted by November 30 of the year preceding the year of publication of the issue. For more information see below: "Announcements" - "Publishing Schedule".

Average time required for preliminary evaluation of manuscripts - 30 days. Average time in which review of manuscripts is carried out - 60-120 days. Average time for an article to be published - 300 days.

Open Access Policy    

This is an open access journal which means that since 2019 all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles in this journal without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author.

Copyright

Authors retain copyright and full publication rights without restriction. The University of Opole does not restrict the author's ability to further distribute his/her work, provided that the scientific journal "Stylistics" is indicated as the original place of publication and the UO Publishing House agrees. Peer Review Process

  • Research papers (articles) are reviewed in a double-blind review mode (the identity of the author and the reviewer is not disclosed).
  • By submitting an article to “Stylistyka,” the author expresses their consent for the articles to be reviewed.
  • The reviewing rules and procedures follow the COPE guidelines (detailed description: https://czasopisma.uni.opole.pl/index.php/s/info).
  • The reviewer’s ethical statements are required by the functionalities of the University of Opole’s OJS Platform.
  • The final decision to approve of the article, reject it or send it for correction is made each time by the journal’s Editor-in-Chief.

Publication Ethics

“Stylistyka” is a journal that since its beginning (i.e. since 1992) has strived to adhere to the principles of academic integrity and publication reliability.

Currently, the journal’s publication policy is based on the principles of publishing ethics recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics [COPE], including ethical principles and procedures to be followed in case of their violation. Hence, among others:

The author(s) submitting a manuscript to “Stylistyka” declare that:

  • it is his/her/their original work;
  • it does not infringe the copyrights of others;
  • it has not been published before;
  • is not currently involved in any other publishing processes;
  • it contains the author(s) illustrative materials.

The declaration can be found in the section FOR AUTHORS – AUTHOR’S DECLARATION. Submission of the statement is also required by the procedure of article submission through the University of Opole’s OJS Platform.

  • “Stylistics” carries out an anti-plagiarism check of the texts received, using the Similarity Check service offered by Crossref.
  • The publication of ethical rules applicable to authors is described in detail in the tab “ABOUT” – “CODE OF ETHICS.”
  • Detailed rules concerning the evaluation and reviewing process, including ethical principles, are described as follows: (1) for reviewers – in the tab FOR REVIEWERS; (2) for authors –in the tab FOR AUTHORS – PEER REVIEW PROCESS.
  • The reviewer’s submission of appropriate ethical statements is also required by the review procedure on the University of Opole’s OJS Platform.
  • If it is revealed that an author of a publication has engaged in unethical behaviour (plagiarism, fabrication of data, etc.), the Editorial Board will ask the author for an explanation and then take appropriate steps provided for in the COPE guidelines. At a later stage, the proceedings may lead to the rejection of the article, notification to the authorities of the author’s academic unit, and refusal to publish in “Stylistiyka” any texts by that author.

Publication fees

The journal "Stylistyka" does not charge fees (APCs) for publishing an article.
